Signature Hole #12: Rated McHenry County’s Most Difficult
The 18 Hole Regulation Course "Crystal Woods" was born in 1967, with the completion of the back nine. Playing to a Par of 72, architect Charles Wagstaff improved upon the original 9 Hole course constructed by Bill Langford in the 1950s, which yielded a layout stretching back as far as 6403 yards, considered a very long course back in the day.
The current USGA Rating is 70.3, with a Slope of 117. The 12th hole was rated most difficult in McHenry County at one point for good reason! It’s no wonder that Crystal Woods has been an ideal backdrop for a number of prestigious events.
